Dr. Sara Leggett is an educational leader committed to building communities where people feel seen, connected, and have a true sense of belonging. With over fourteen years of experience in public education, Sara has served as a school psychologist, program consultant for students with intensive support needs, and special education director.

Sara's leadership is grounded in socially just practices and a belief that inclusion must be embedded within systems, not left to individuals alone. She is especially passionate about developing inclusively conscious leadership and supporting educators in navigating the complex, human work of inclusion. Sara finds deep purpose in coaching special educators, mentoring teachers, and partnering with families to create environments where both adults and children can thrive.

Sara recently defended her dissertation in Educational Leadership at Central Michigan University. My research explores inclusively conscious early childhood leadership and how we can better support leaders and systems in creating meaningful, sustainable inclusive environments for all learners.

Outside of work, Sara often explore the outdoors with her husband and daughter, gets lost in books about dragons and rebellion, or capture quiet, meaningful moments through photography.

Affirming IEP Toolkit for Parents

This resource is designed to help parents navigate their child's special education journey with confidence  Instead of viewing disabilities through standard, deficit-based school paperwork, this toolkit provides positive, neurodiversity-affirming reframes for each disability category that honor each student's unique strengths and processing differences  It equips families with critical equity checks, essential learning supports, and ready-to-use IEP advocacy examples, all designed to shift the school team's focus away from making a student conform and toward adapting the educational environment for their success .
